The City of Perryville’s Parks and Recreation Department produces a variety of special events and programs each year, all designed to serve the whole community. These include family-friendly events, cultural and arts events, and holiday celebrations.

Salsa Dance Class

SALSA DANCE CLASSES

Join the Perryville Parks & Recreation Department on Thursday and Friday nights for Salsa Dance starting February 20 - April 16 (no classes on 4/2 & 4/3).

This six week session will be taught by Niko.  Learn and experience the joy of salsa dancing.  Prepare to move your body along with the music.  No partner needed to enjoy this class.

It's not to late to join after the deadline. Drop by the Perry Park Center to join the current classes.

MOM PROM

The Perry Park Center & Rhea Optical proudly present:  Mom Prom® 2026

Date: Saturday, March 28, 2026

Location: American Legion Hall
Time: 5PM-10PM

Doors open at 5:00p.m and dinner served at 6:00p.m.

$25 ~ Save $5 if you register by 2/15.

Calling all moms of every kind—human, furry, leafy, or otherwise! Join us for our 2nd Annual Ladies Night Out: Mom Prom®! We'll have a DJ, a delicious catered meal, cash bar, photo booth, and the dance floor! It's the perfect opportunity to reconnect with the girls, make new friends, and let loose. So, dust off your favorite dress, put on your dancing shoes, and get ready for a night of fun and laughter.

Your ticket includes: A catered dinner, 1 free drink ticket, and entry into our attendance drawings—including a chance to win a free exam and a free pair of prescription sunglasses from RHEA Optical!

50/50 Drawing & proceeds donated to The Salvation Army of Perry County.

DISCOVER FISHING

Discover Nature-fishing Lessons 1+2

Fishing is a great way for kids and families to have fun outdoors, learn about conservation, and make happy memories. Our Discover Nature-Fishing program is a hands-on, four-part fishing instruction series that helps families gain the skills and confidence they need to go fishing on their own.

Lesson two: How to Tie a Knot and Bait a Hook

Discover Nature-fishing Lessons 3+4

Enrollees must take lesson one to be eligible for this registration!

What to Expect:

Lesson three: Five Common Missouri Fish - Their Anatomy, Habitat, and Life Cycle

Lesson four: Fishing with Lures and Fishing Regulation

Each class is approximately two hours

Separate registration required for each participant

Children must be accompanied by an adult

All registrants are expected to participate

GRANDPARENTS AND ME!

PAINT PARTY

Enjoy some quality time with your grandchild at Pamela's Paint Party. Pamela will provide you with all the materials necessary.   Kids don't need any artistic skills to have fun and express their creativity.  Everyone goes home with their very own masterpiece to remind them of all the fun they had.

Grandparents are free to attend; however, they are still required to register.

The first Monday every month will be dedicated to Seniors and their choice of craft, education, exercise or DIY project of their choice.

All materials are provided. 

Private parties are available most Monday's.  Gather your family/friends and we will provide the party of your choice.

Easter Egg Bone Hunt

EASTER BONE HUNT

This program is FREE and is available for anyone with a well behaved dog that is comfortable with other dogs, is on a leash at all times and is up to date their vaccinations.

Space is available for 50 dogs.

Wildflower Hike FB

WILDFLOWER HIKE

Join the Perry Park Center and your Missouri Department of Conservation for a stroll through Blue Spring Branch Conservation area on the search of spring wildflowers. 

On this hike you will learn to identify and enjoy common woodland blooms. 

Transportation provided from the Perry Park Center to the hike location. Parking at the trailhead is limited, so please consider utilizing our shuttle. 

This program is open to participants 12 years and older. 

The hike covers about 1.5 miles of moderately difficult terrain. Expect uneven surfaces, uphill sections, and some slick mud and gravel. Please bring comfortable shoes or boots for walking and a liter of water.

We're looking to fill the south side gymnasium with household goods, clothes, collectibles, toys, furniture & much more.

Booth spaces measure 10'x10'. Need a table?  Bring your own or rent our 8ft table for an additional $5.

Please read the following:

  1. Payment must be made in full for booth reservations, we cannot hold booth space without payment.
  2. Booth spaces will be randomly assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  3. Setup is ONLY Friday, April 24 from 12:00 – 7:30 p.m. 
  4. You must be ready to show at 7:00 a.m. sharp on Saturday, 4/25, no moving in or setting up during sale.
  5. All items for sale must be priced, gently used, and clean.  
  6. All items (including unsold items) must be removed by 12:00pm.
  7. All exhibitors are always required to be present with booth.
  8. If show is cancelled, all fees processed will be credited to your account or a refund can be requested.
  9. The Perry Park Center is not responsible for accidents, theft, damages, etc. that may occur during sale.
  10. No raffle tickets or any games of chance may be sold on the premises.  
Introduction to Wild Caving in April

INTRODUCTION TO WILD CAVING

Explore the natural wonders of Perry County with our two-part program, led by expert guides! Both sessions are required, with Thursday night focusing on caving education and Saturday left for exploring one of the caves in Perry County!

Any participant ages 7-17 must have a parent/guardian registered and in attendance.

Senior Connections April FB

SENIOR CONNECTIONS

Join us for coffee, cookies, and an informative and engaging morning designed especially for seniors ages 55+!

These informational gatherings are held every 4th Monday of each month (excluding May) in 2026. Each session includes:

  • First 15 minutes: Presentation by a local speaker
  • Remaining 30 minutes: Interactive activity led by Pamela

APRIL PRESENTATION AND ACTIVITY:

Guest Speaker: Independence Health Systems, Inc.
Independence Health Systems will begin with a presentation on Dementia, including available options and resources.
Activity: Pamela will lead a mindful stretching class with a special focus on dementia and caregivers.
Stretching helps improve:

  • Strength
  • Flexibility
  • Balance
  • Mood
  • All materials will be provided.

2026 Mayfest 5K Run/Walk 

Saturday, May 9, 2026

Proudly celebrating 250 years of Independence!

The race starts and ends at The Perry Park Center.  The course will be a journey through the park and surrounding neighborhoods. 

$20 Per Participant. Early Bird Discount: Receive $5 off if you register on or before April 12! Cash only day of registration. 

 Each participant will receive a t-shirt and post race refreshments.  Any entry received after the early bird deadline (April 12) is not guaranteed a shirt on race day.  Awards will be issued for the top overall male and female, along with the top three in each division. All proceeds go toward providing affordable events and recreation opportunities for the community.

If there is inclement weather, the race will be delayed up to 2 hours. The race will then be canceled. No refunds will be given.
